House By Unveils Exclusive Drop of Rare Furniture Designed by Robert Wilson
Gérard Mialet announces the release of twelve rare furniture pieces designed by legendary theater director Robert Wilson for Hamlet Machine by Heiner Müller — a production that premiered on May 7, 1986 at New York University, followed by performances on October 4, 1986 at the Kunsthalle in Hamburg, July 7, 2017 at Teatro San Nicolò during the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, and on October 1 at Théâtre des Amandiers in Nanterre, France. This exceptional Drop, “Tribute to Bob Wilson”, will be available starting May 15, 2025, in conjunction with Telaf New York.
Originally created in 1987, these pieces were once offered for sale, with several preserved over the years by Mialet in his private collections. This marks a rare opportunity to discover and acquire these iconic works.
Curated under the artistic direction of House By, the pieces are part of a limited 1987 edition, offering collectors and design enthusiasts a unique chance to own a piece of theater and design history.
Since the late 1960s, Robert Wilson's productions have decisively shaped the look of theater and opera.
Through his signature use of light, his investigations into the structure of a simple movement, and the classical rigor of his scenic and furniture design, Wilson has continuously articulated the force and originality of his vision. Wilson's close ties and collaborations with leading artists, writers, and musicians continue to fascinate audiences worldwide.
